Kadi Gomis on skiing, fashion, and producing music
— A Portrait in collaboration with Oakley
At the beginning of 2026, Knuckle Mag released its 7th annual print issue, exploring the theme of music. In those pages is a profile on Hugo Burvall — or rather his producer-alter ego, Phantom. It turns out Hugo isn’t the only skier carving a path into the world of music, moving from beats to labels and the greater music industry. Following a similar trajectory is French skier Kadi Gomis, a multi-talented figure; producer, professional skier, and fashion creator in his spare time.
No other artist duo has shaped the music of the international freeski scene as much as Kya Bamba. The two Valais natives began mixing reggae with other musical styles as a sound system around the turn of the millennium and filled dance floors thanks to their exclusive dubplates. Legendary films such as “Believe” by Tanner Hall feature two dubplates by Kya Bamba, and they played at all the groundbreaking events of the golden era of freeskiing.
The Early Birdz Invitational is a simple recipe: 30 riders from all over Switzerland (and beyond) get up early and ride at the first light of day, giving the filmmakers and photographers on site the chance to capture those rare, magical moments. Ruedi Flück & Shannon Sweeney, our photographers from the Knuckle team, were there for this event organized by—funny enough—our two editors-in-chief, Remco Kayser & Maé Biedermann. Enjoy the view and take in this journey that happens just a few steps from home.
HOW TO TAKE A SHIT IN THE MOUNTAINS
For a ski resort to operate, the mountain is dotted with chairlift pylons, snow cannons are everywhere, and ski runs are shaped with bulldozers. Hotels, transportation, restaurants, and ski lifts: everything is set up to make mountain access as easy as possible. All your basic needs are met, including the most basic. You’ll find toilets on every corner, in restaurants, or at mountaintop cafeterias - sometimes perched as high as 3,800 meters. But during a backcountry hike far from the comforts of a ski resort, answering nature’s call becomes a trickier task. Knuckle Mag brings you a guide for an enjoyable high-altitude pooping experience in the great, untouched outdoors.
If I went to Riyadh, it wasn’t to ride quads in the desert (though that would have been cool) but to accompany my friend Jules Guarneri on his new documentary film project. The film will be amazing - I won’t spoil everything, but we did interview Tanner Hall, who explained why ski touring films are garbage.
It was an absolut fantastic day out at GMP in Adelboden-Lenk! Here are a couple of photo impressions.
The almost perfect model ski station from @stationdeskiminiatureensuisse is so real and fresh that it can hardly be matched by any model railroad. You have to be a bit crazy to spend your free time creating detailed model worlds. Behind this project are the model couple Gautier Pierrat and Solène Munch, 23 and 24 years old.
