La communauté du freeski est composée de personnes passionnées, hyper enthousiastes, avec de l’énergie à revendre, qui ne tiennent pas en place. Certains comportements sont gages de talent chez les skieurs et skieuses : être une tête brulée, savoir évoluer en dehors des sentiers battus, ou être un·e hyperactif·ve qui fait 5 spots de street en une journée. Des qualités, qui vont parfois de pair avec leur lot d’inconvénients, comme oublier un jour sur deux ses moufles à la maison, perdre ses affaires, arriver en retard, ou rager quand on ne pose pas son trick.

The almost perfect model ski station from @stationdeskiminiatureensuisse is so real and fresh that it can hardly be matched by any model railroad. You have to be a bit crazy to spend your free time creating detailed model worlds. Behind this project are the model couple Gautier Pierrat and Solène Munch, 23 and 24 years old.

In Switzerland, you might think, everyone skis. But the way Vico Torriani sang about skiing in 1963 in "Alles fährt Ski" has unfortunately not been the case on Swiss ski slopes for a long time. Sales figures for skis are falling, trend sports such as freeskiing are becoming elitist, subcultures are fragmenting and getting lost in different trends. The globalized social media continue to make consumers believe there is a lively trend and the number of visitors to ski resorts remains constant. But skiing is becoming less and less relevant in Swiss society.

Skiing can be painful. Torn ligaments, dislocated shoulders and fractured tibias are all part of the sport. In freestyle sports more than in any other, concussions are commonplace. Despite growing awareness of the long-term consequences of repeated concussions - particularly in American football, where former athletes have developed early-onset dementia or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, with many deaths as a result - the subject of concussions is still taken lightly, especially in amateur sport. We laugh about taking the crash of the year. You wait a few days, then put your skis back on as if nothing had happened. But in some cases, recovering from a concussion can be far more complex.

En raison du pouvoir d'achat élevé en Suisse, de nombreuses personnes consomment des produits qui dépassent largement leurs besoins. Ainsi, de nombreuses vestes en Gore-tex ne sont que rarement exposées à de fortes pluies et sont même détournées de leur fonction première pour être perçues comme des passionnés d'activités de plein air lorsqu'ils se rendent au bureau.
